About the Program

The U.S.-Russia English Language Exchange Program is designed to provide an opportunity for current and former participants of the Advance Program to engage in a study tour focused on entrepreneurship, language, and culture. By the end of their visit, participants should have strengthened their English language skills, a network of American peers, a better understanding of American culture, and skillsets needed to make a lasting impact upon return to their home communities. Program Activities

Through monument tours, excursions in and around D.C., and other language-oriented activities, participants will get a chance to improve their English language skills and gain an in-depth understanding of American culture and the history of one of America’s most renowned cities.

ELEX Teachers Participants

ESL Teachers will travel for a two-week exchange program in the US, participate in the TESOL International Association conference in Portland, Oregon, and engage in cultural and academic activities in Washington DC.

To participate in the program applicants must be:

  • A Russian Citizen

  • An English Language Teacher in Russia

  • Able to travel to US in March 2023 and committed to returning home after the completion of the program

ELEX Student participants

ELEX Student participants will have an exciting opportunity to participate in personalized visits with small business owners and entrepreneurs in the D.C. area. Sessions will represent a variety of sectors and will focus on business development skills like social media marketing and product prototyping. Businesses represented in the visits will embody U.S. values such as sustainability, social impact, and innovation, and will showcase the diversity within U.S. entrepreneurship, highlighting women, migrants, and ethnic and racial minorities.

Who is eligible?

The applicant has to

  • be a Russian citizen

  • be 22-40 years old

  • be a current or former participant of the U.S. Advance through Vocational English Program

  • travel outside of Russia to obtain a WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine and U.S. visa if selected

  • be able to travel to the US in July 2023 and committed to returning home after the completion of the program
